Now I have to confess that I am not convinced that the arguments presented mean that you should never use a secret code. For those who are able and practised, I think that it still has some merit. But if you are going to use one you need to supplement it with other skills; like maintaining a safe distance in any situation particularly unexpected ones.
Anyway, give the article a read. You will have to join kid power to do it but it's free and they don’t hassle you and more importantly, they are a great organization and source of knowledge.
